Delivering for South Minneapolis
Since 2022, I have been hard at work to make sure that the government is making our lives easier, not harder. The workers, families, and immigrants who call South Minneapolis home deserve nothing less.
Caring for renters. I led the work that ensured tenants' right to organize, investing in renters' assistance programs, and protected survivors of domestic violence in eviction cases.
Making homeownership more affordable. As a new homeowner, I understand the challenges of buying for the first time. I led the efforts to create the first ever down payment assistance program for first time homeowners.
Building more stable housing. In 2023, we invested a historic $1 billion in building new and affordable housing.
Delivering for our immigrant neighbors. In 2022, I served as lead author of the Driver's Licenses for All Bill in the Senate, ensuring that everyone can safely participate in community.
Fighting to raise the minimum wage. While we continue to fight for a livable wage, we have been able to eliminate sub-minimum wage rates that were legal in Minnesota.
Protecting reproductive rights. We passed the Protect Reproductive Operations Act which provides every Minnesotan with the fundamental right to make individual decisions about their reproductive healthcare.
Making it easier for people to enter the workforce. We passed legislation to make it easier, not harder, for people to enter the workfoce in areas like social work.
Protecting democracy. We passed legislation to protect poll workers and made it easier for eligible voters to register.
